Herbal Weight Loss Products

After many years of promoting herbal weight loss products, they have finally started to become popular but there is an ever increasing range to choose from. One of the most exciting finds in recent years has been the Hoodia Gordonni cactus from certain parts of Africa which acts as an appetite suppressant. The way this works is by telling the brain of the user that they are not hungry and has helped local populations when the pangs of hunger were upon them.

Most people are aware of the properties of caffeine which is the main ingredient of Guarana, the plant of which originates in Brazil but it also works as a diuretic as well. Its side effects outweigh its efficacy as an herbal weight loss supplement with some potentially negative effects like high blood pressure, nausea, dizziness and anxiousness for example.

To rid the body of excess fluid the dandelion has been used for many years as it makes the user go to the toilet more frequently and doesn't generally cause any harm apart from the odd allergic reaction which has been reported. Results from its use are seen quite quickly with an increase in the amount of fluid that is removed from the body but this should only be used for short periods.

Cascara is a laxative used in many weight loss supplements but any laxative will help a person lose weight just like any other form of ‘purging' the body of waste and toxins. Just because it is marketed as an herbal weight control supplement doesn't make it any better and its overuse can cause depletion in vital nutrients.

Although an ancient herbal weight loss product, green tea provides many benefits which are only just being explored in the West with many items now containing them including skin care products. A number of studies carried out on the effectiveness of green tea have shown that it does have natural weight loss properties provided the user maintains a healthy diet and continues to carry out regular physical activities.

Despite the large sums of money spent by people on natural weight loss products, there is still little proof that they are effective in the long term. Unfortunately the likes of Hoodia is rare and now protected so if you are fortunate enough to find a reputable dealer you may have to spend around fifty dollars a month to use this and many people believe that natural weight loss supplements are more about ensuring your wallet loses weight. The real truth is that herbal weight loss supplements do have their place but they should not be relied upon to control weight on their own but should be part of a regime which promotes healthy eating and exercise.
